NATIONAL CRISIS DECLARED

The Center for Judicial Excellence ("CJE") alleges that there are systemic faults in the family court system that have resulted in preventable child homicides. The CJE has declared a "national crisis" that needs to be addressed by legislation.

PUBLIC POLICY DECEPTION

Our analysis of Child Safety First reveals that the CJE has engaged in widespread deception in its research; biased selection of citations; misinformation about parental alienation science, domestic violence and other topics; science denial tactics; and other unethical practices. The negligent research practices in Child Safety First are so basic that any competent researcher would be aware of them and avoid them. The nature and content of the CJE recommendations make it clear that the CJE is attempting to silence any opinions that disagree with their agenda, including the parental alienation community. 

COMPREHENSIVE ANALYSIS

The CJE has attempted to create an unwarranted moral crisis and panic. Our 80-page analysis reveals:
  • The CJE has ignored and/or misrepresented the scientific status and research regarding parental alienation (an insidious form of child abuse, intimate personal violence, and coercive control).
  • The CJE policy recommendations exceed the scope of their data.
  • The CJE has made recommendations that are not supported by science and literature.
  • The CJE report attempts to influence American jurisprudence:
  1. The judiciary (mandating judges’ training, limiting judicial discretion)
  2. The social sciences (qualifications for expert witnesses, implementation of treatment programs)
  3. Rights of families (children’s right to have a relationship with two healthy parents, parents’ rights to rear their children)​

CONCLUSIONS

It is crucial to warn policymakers, the public, and the media about the outrageous biases, misinformation, and deceit that permeate the Child Safety First report. Readers of the CJE Child Safety First report should consider it critically with extreme skepticism. This blatant misinformation can and will escalate unless the CJE and other domestic violence advocates who promote this deception acknowledge that their agenda fails to include all forms of abuse. Parental alienation experts, shared parenting experts, and domestic violence organizations that do not harbor gender biases must be included in future meetings regarding family court legislation and related issues. Children will only be properly protected from all forms of abuse when public policy is based upon the input of all relevant parties and legitimate scientific research.
